Tree removal in Kilgore, TX

The East Texas Oil Field town, split between Gregg and Rusk counties.

Kilgore grew up with the railroad and then exploded with oil. The International-Great Northern Railroad reached it in 1872 on its line between Palestine and Longview, and the town took its name from Constantine Buckley Kilgore, who sold the railroad 174 acres. When "Dad" Joiner's Daisy Bradford #3 well came in near Henderson on October 3, 1930, it opened the East Texas Oil Field, and by the 1940s Kilgore had more than 1,000 wooden derricks, one patch of them nicknamed "the world's richest acre." Today 60 steel replicas topped with stars stand downtown.

Tree work in Kilgore

Kilgore is its own city, so Longview's brush pickup and free compost drop-off, which require a Longview residential sanitation account, don't apply. Ask the City of Kilgore what it collects and whether it has tree rules. The state rules are the same as in Longview: powered digging 16 inches or deeper, as with stump grinding, needs an 811 notice at least 48 hours ahead on weekdays.

Published prices are on the cost page, and the signs of a beetle-killed pine are on the dead pines guide.
